Drexel University Caneris Residence Hall

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Architect: Stantec Architecture, Inc.

O'Donnell & Naccarato provided structural engineering services for the new 7-story dormitory, which houses 312 students in 4-to-6 person suites. The 105,000 SF design/build project utilized the Girder-Slab system consisting of precast plank and steel framing, which allowed the structural frame to be completed on a very tight deadline. The structure was erected in approximately 30 days during winter. Originally named East Hall, the building was renamed in honor of the former Senior Vice President for Student Life and Administrative Services, Anthony T. Caneris. Each floor includes, student rooms, a study/social lounge, full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facilities.
