Einstein Medical Center Montgomery

Location: East Norriton, PA
Architect: Perkins + Will

O'Donnell & Naccarato provided structural engineering services for Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, the first new hospital built in Pennsylvania in more than a decade. The new 5 story 363,000 SF structure is a state of the art medical center with 146 patient beds. Structural challenges included the 5-story open atrium featuring a sloped front glass wall necessitating two 100' long trusses –one vertical vierendeel and one horizontal to resist the gravity and lateral loads. The southeast corner of Einstein Medical Center Montgomery features a sloped precast concrete façade, which induced substantial horizontal thrust that required careful analysis and design of adjacent structural members.
