O'Donnell & Naccarato provided structural engineering services for modifications to the existing, 24-story, 142,000 SF, steel-framed building including a new stair tower, new entrance canopy, new floor in fills and penetrations at each existing floor, and structural modifications to four existing elevators to create a new luxury boutique hotel in downtown Philadelphia. The project also required a new LULA elevator installation for access to the penthouse ballroom and significant framing retrofit to accommodate the property’s signature restaurant. Hotel Palomar, was formerly known as the Architects Building when it was home to AIA Philadelphia. The hotel features 230 guestrooms, 6,000 SF of meeting and event space and original architectural detailing.
