Temple University Hospital Tioga Parking Garage

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Architect: Stantec

O’Donnell & Naccarato provided structural engineering services for the 5-level, 485-car, precast and post-tensioned concrete garage, as well as the attached, 2,200 SF, steel-framed pedestrian bridge. The 183,000 SF parking structure was designed for future vertical expansion to support two patient floors to be located above the garage. The pedestrian bridge is partially supported by the garage structure and connects the adjacent Temple University Children’s Hospital/Shriners Hospitals for Children with the Temple University Health Sciences Complex.

Creative design solutions utilizing post-tensioned concrete construction and cantilevered foundation grade beams were employed to overcome challenges that arose due to the existing, underground utilities that remained in operation during the construction of the new facility.
