Northwell Health Peconic Bay Medical Center Emergency Department Expansion
Project Overview
22,000 SF renovation and expansion of the existing Emergency Department at Peconic Bay Medical Center to create a new Level 2 trauma center. The scope includes a gut renovation of the 6,400 SF walk-in reception and discharge area into a new split-flow and results waiting zone, and the fit-out of existing ground-floor shell space for trauma care. Structural services include support for ceiling-mounted equipment, two new X-ray machines, and a new CT scanner—the hospital’s third—within a 1,400 SF imaging suite; framing for a new vestibule addition; rooftop mechanical equipment support; and infill or modification of MEP penetrations.
The expansion increases the ED’s capacity by 75%, adding dedicated areas for both life-threatening and less acute cases. A new two-bed trauma room is located near the entrance for rapid access, and the department now includes an electronic intensive care unit (e-ICU) for remote specialist consultations, significantly enhancing emergency response capabilities.
