SoHo Beach House

Miami Beach, FL

Renovation of the historical 7-story hotel with the addition of a 15-story hotel (total area of 322,000 SF). The project included upgrading the historical structure to the strength requirements of the current Florida Building Code. The 15-story addition consists of a tall, slender tower, requiring careful attention to the structure’s resistance to high wind pressures. The tower is also located within Florida’s Coastal Construction Control Line, and therefore, necessitated the design to accommodate wave run-up, erosion, and scour due to a 100-year storm event. The project also included the addition of a swimming pool and deck on the roof of the historic building.
