In 2019, O’Donnell & Naccarato established a structural engineering firm in Carmel, Indiana with the acquisition of McComas Engineering. Since 1991, McComas, now known as McComas / O’Donnell & Naccarato, has earned a reputation for managing complex projects across the Midwest and beyond. The office is led by Vice President Rod McComas, PE, SE and Regional Director Tom Miltner, PE.

Our Carmel office specializes in engineering for precast concrete, cold-formed-steel, and structural design to the aquatics industry for competition pools, dive towers, and leisure swimming pools throughout the country.
Johnson Memorial Hospital
Johnson Memorial Hospital, to address growing population needs over the next decade, constructed a new, state-of-the-art emergency/outpatient services facility and new, comprehensive rehabilitation center on the hospital’s campus. The two-story ED/Outpatient expansion to the hospital includes a 17,400 square-foot emergency department with a new ambulance drive and bay. The 33,000 square-foot outpatient services space offers radiology, laboratory and wellness activities, wellness suite and room for future expansion and services on the second floor. Gateway Hancock Health Immediate Care Center
Providing services in an area with few options, Gateway Hancock Health’s new free-standing immediate care center satisfies the needs of the community and its staff within a uniquely efficient and aesthetically bold facility. Patients now have access to labs and imaging, as well as blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, and many other services or tests needed.
O’Donnell & Naccarato utilized composite steel framing within the structural design of the medical office building. Decorative, built-up steel columns support the entry canopy and drop off, while special attention was given to ensure the stability of the large wing wall. Additionally, O&N completed the specialized design to support X-Ray and CT-Scan areas, including the support of the lead shielding. Humane Society for Hamilton County
McComas O’Donnell & Naccarato provided structural engineering for an expansive, world-class animal wellness center for the Humane Society for Hamilton County in the city of Fishers, IN. The new center is pushing boundaries, designed to offer better quality of life for the animals in its care, as well as space to launch new programs that will connect people with the healing power of pets. The 40,000 SF facility includes 140+ dog kennels and 100+ cat enclosures, as well plenty of room for walking trails on its 10 acre wooded site. Structural design elements include steel frame and masonry bearing walls with a large canopy at the lobby with sloping columns. The Carmel, Indiana based structural engineering firm McComas Engineering has merged operations with O’Donnell & Naccarato.
The entire McComas staff, including office leaders Rod McComas, PE, SE and Tom Miltner, PE, will continue to serve regional clients as McComas/O’Donnell & Naccarato. The merger strengthened O’Donnell & Naccarato’s geographic position and services on a national level. The combined firms with more than 100 employees in 4 regional offices are registered to perform design and restoration services in 49 of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
