Philadelphia Facade Inspection Ordinance
With the February 17th, 2010 signing of the Philadelphia Facade Ordinance by Mayor Nutter, a new chapter in mandated property maintenance took effect in Philadelphia. Focusing on buildings 6 stories and higher (or with appurtenances in excess of 60 feet), the facade ordinance details a staggered schedule of initial inspections followed by an ongoing regimen every 5 years to be performed by a “licensed professional engineer experienced in the practice of structural engineering, or a licensed registered architect knowledgeable in the design, construction & inspection of building facades”.
Having completed more than 65 inspections prior to the first facade ordinance inspection deadline on June 30, 2011, O’Donnell & Naccarato has become the leading provider of ordinance-compliant inspections in the City of Philadelphia. Our inspection procedures and professional capabilities allow us to employ the most efficient inspection methods for each unique building type and size. O’Donnell & Naccarato’s staff is trained in the use of swing-stage, rope descent and high-reach equipment to perform the inspections, and our flawless safety record reflects directly on the capabilities of the local contractors who work with our office to provide access for the inspections.
O’Donnell & Naccarato’s facade inspection team is equipped to inspect any affected building regardless of the size or access challenges. Whether it’s the 13-story Wannamaker Building with its 8’ornamental cornice overhang, or the 61-story Philadelphia landmark skyscraper, One Liberty Place, with its sloped roof and heat trace system, our team is equipped for the task. We can help you comply with the facade inspection ordinance while gaining valuable information about your facade system to properly allocate capital for future improvements.
